Potential Tropical Cyclone 16L is currently located in the southwest Gulf of Mexico, and is likely to accelerate towards the northeast and affect the Gulf coast of Florida, Alabama, Mississippi and Louisiana. At present, it remains uncertain as to whether it will be a tropical or subtropical cyclone, but naming of this system seems likely in the next 24 hours.
Tropical Storm Neoguri has been named in the Philippine Sea today, with its existence likely to be brief. The storm is now more likely to turn towards the north, away from Luzon.
Invest 97W is currently located near the Marshall Islands and could develop into a significant typhoon this week.
Invest 97A has formed near the Maldives, and could develop later this week or next week as it advances westwards.
