Syracuse Humphrey Fellow Francis Wau highlights basic infrastructure challenges facing rural Papua New Guinea and its impact on education and healthcare. Francis reflects on his 15 years of experience in Papua New Guinea working as an ICT educator and manager in the education and health sectors. He outlines the difficulties and challenges and what he sees as a way forward for a developing country such as his. About the speaker: Francis Wau is a Humphrey Fellow and most recently managed Information Technology Services in one of the Provincial Health Authorities of Papua New Guinea. He feels information technology is of great importance to developing countries, especially in public health and education. Francis is focusing on how to develop quality ICT policies, risk management policy, cyber security policy, and information technology innovation as it all relates to e-governance. He has a BA in Commercial Computing (IT) from PNG University of Technology.
