Resurgent authoritarianism and extreme nationalism have threatened free expression globally. On April 12, the Maxwell School hosted a three-part, interdisciplinary symposium that explored stories and strategies to address and challenge authoritarianism. The symposium featured participants from across the University as well as guests from Cornell and the U.S. State Department's Office of the Historian. The panel examined the thirtieth anniversary of the end of the Cold War. It featured Dr. James Graham Wilson (US State Department, Office of the Historian), and Professor Jeremy Wallace (Cornell), and Professor Robert Terrell (Maxwell, History). It was moderated by Professor Osamah Khalil (Maxwell, History).
